Honeycomb
During high school, Laura and Gary’s children, Josh and Eliana, participated in an innovative Jewish Teen Foundation Board youth philanthropy program that Laura helped launch in 2002 through the San Francisco-based Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund. Based on the model of giving circles, Jewish youth philanthropy programs are a collective grantmaking experience, enabling youth to gain leadership and philanthropic skills that equip them to be agents of civic and social change.
Inspired by Josh and Eliana’s experiences in the San Francisco Jewish Teen Foundation Board, Laura partnered with the Maimonides Fund and the Jewish Funders Network in 2013 to launch a Jewish youth philanthropy program, now called Honeycomb, to bring Jewish youth philanthropy programs to cities across North America. Since then, Honeycomb has expanded to offer Jewish youth philanthropy leadership opportunities throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, and Israel.
