Embark

Embark is a unique program for young interfaith and mixed-heritage couples to deepen their connection with each other and Jewish life, regardless of their backgrounds and without pressure to convert. Through cohort-based learning led by local rabbis, Embark participants connect with other like-minded couples to engage in conversation about creating meaningful Jewish rituals and building a Jewish home. Now a part of the Moishe House (Mem Global) network, Embark is set to expand to over a dozen cities in 2025.
Inspired by the interfaith marriage between Laura and Gary’s son, Josh, and daughter-in-law, Katherine, Laura launched Embark in 2022 to address a critical gap in Jewish community engagement – empowering young interfaith and mixed-heritage couples to participate in Jewish life. Originally established in partnership with Jewish Federations of North America, Embark has since been acquired by Moishe House (now known as MemGlobal) as one of its core programs.

Through cohort-based learning, led by local rabbis, Embark participants connect with other like-minded couples to engage in conversation about creating meaningful Jewish rituals and building a Jewish home. Embark focuses on reaching couples who wouldn’t naturally gravitate to synagogues or might not feel comfortable in traditional Jewish learning environments.

Within its first three years, Embark has already proven to be more than just a program – it is a catalyst for personal and communal growth, supporting young adults along their Jewish journeys. Survey data from Embark participants reveals increased Jewish practice, greater confidence in navigating Jewish spaces, and strengthened relationships within the couples.

Embark cohorts are set to run in nearly 15 U.S. cities in 2025 alone, with Laura’s continued commitment to Embark enabling the program’s rapid growth and success.
